First play

Opening Night
"The Miracle Worker"
This was Deveraux's first play.
So proud of Deveraux!
This is the last scene in the play.

Dev's scene

Curtain call....Dev was one of the blind girls.
Someone had a hard time making it through 2 acts!

We are so proud of our girl!
We were getting out the car to head to Dev's first performance,
we were quite excited.  Bobo said, "Someone will say, who is her
owner?  She is good!"

I am so thankful these two had so many moments
together and this shared experience.  The opportunity
was born one night at our dinning table when dad and
I were talking about his calendar and rehearsals.  I thought,
I wonder if Dev could be in the play in one of the small
parts of a blind girl?   What a rich experience to see her
papa as a director and share what I witnessed as a young
girl watching my dad direct plays.  It was also great
for her to go through the experience of auditioning and.
enter the world of community theatre

First night was a hit!

The Iao is a historical theatre
in Wailuku, about a 45 minute drive from us.
It is a great old theatre.

This was the last performance, Pua (played Helen) and Jessica
(played Annie).  What a great play.  We had a such fun having
this a part of our life for a season.  It was enjoyable to go to
rehearsals, be in the theatre again, and see my dad in this role.
I also was able to work with the girl who played Helen a bit, as I played Helen
Keller when I was 11 at my dad's college where he worked.  I went way back
in time and let out some groans and moans as Helen.  It was very reminiscent
and I felt sadly grown up.  I do hope community theatre is a part
of our families future.
Het costume.  Dev was such a trooper,
she was in one scene and so she had
plenty of wait time at the beginning and
at the end.

This was the doll they used in the play as Helen's doll,
and it was my doll when I played Helen!  Now it is
a part of Dev's sleeping buddies at night.
Striking the set!

(Dev practicing being blind before her audition)

Wailuku town...a sweet little town
Deveraux says she wants to be in more plays.  The
long drive got to be a bit wearisome but it was
a good experience in real community theatre!
Dev wrote on the play program:
1) I am so glad I am in it
2) I liked the cast
3) I am my papa is the director

Days in May

It was all about Legos after Bobo's birthday!
This was a night I marked in pictures because I had a clean house
and an empty one.  Rare.  For both.  I felt a bit of heaven, truly!
Just to be able to enjoy some quiet as I sat on the lanai and just breathed it in
and spent some good time. Then I was ready to see those sweet little faces!

They get so silly with Gigi.
Bobo one day said,
Look at your husband and say, "that's my man"
Okay Bobo!
Our "in house" baker
Ah the night we tried to give away the play kitchen.
I admit I was a bit sad, but moving through it.
We were in the parking lot of the church we were
donating it to and Dev was crying and we were trying
to figure out what to do.  She was tired and we were trying to reason with her,
but not really getting anywhere.  We ended up coming home with
the kitchen only to return a week or so later with a more
rested girl who was ready to donate....
(Who said she better not come to drop it off).

Dev has been so good helping Bobo build his Lego creations.
One day, Bobo heard Deveraux coming up the stairs
crying,  He said, "Whatever it is, it's hard."

We went frog catching one night.

They are silly together!
Bobo said to me one night, "Can you read to me tonight,
because you have a great voice."
mom's art
Happy Mothers day from my sisters to mom.
One day Bobo said, "God stretches you."
Our kayaking adventures begin!  Andrew had been wanting
a kayak and he found one on Craig's list.

A dad and his Bobo...off to see the world...or at least Kapalua Bay.

These are feather dusters, by Dev.  She used all my fabric
scraps and made feather dusters.  She is always up to something!

The biggest Lego set ever!  Bobo's eyes were popping out of his head!

Everyone got to work...Bobo had his crew at work.

Wow!  Thank you Papa D and Tia!
"So you want to be a better parent"...where to start?
Drew and I chose a book that we will read and discuss (I hope).
Dev is loving baking (not the clean up) and it is so
fun to see her creations and enthusiasm!

Our kiddos on the last couples Bible study potluck.
The ladies of the couples study we hosted in our home.
A great group to get to know.  For many this was a new experience.
Ready for a gathering!

So many rides together for the play.
This was their last ride together.
Some good May Days!
