Andrew was very excited about all the coupons, this being our first time in awhile on the mainland for black Friday. As it turned out, it was a disappointing as he was out in the wee hours with no return for his tenacity. Oh well, it's about the process, right??
Ahhh mom is here with us, for that I was so thankful! Reading about our turkey in familiar Betty Crocker cookbook. My moms hands are so familiar to me, I will always remember.
Deveraux preparing my Grandma Carols famous "cream cheese rolls." So yummy!
I was so proud of Deveraux, she really helped us prepare our meal!
We used every space! Our kitchen is pretty small. There was a moment when we were bustling about, the kids "underfoot", food everywhere, and I just put a plastic bowl full of mashed potatoes in the oven hoping they would be okay...and we just started laughing and hugged each other.
Only in a kitchen with young children will you find a plastic dinosaur spoon sticking out of your sweet potatoes!
My "one and two" as I call them...
We did all that preparing for us, just the four of us and mom. I guess that is a good thing because it is about celebrating and making it good no matter who is at the table.
Brain and Maria Solazzo and their three children (our friends from Maui who now live in CA) came in the evening, it was wonderful to have them and felt like having a bit of home. Cienna and Deveraux were fixing Maria's hair!
A good day. Highlights were a run with Andrew in our Carmel by the Sea neighborhood, watching Deveraux and moms snuggle while watching Macy's Thanksgiving parade (a tradition), our funny moment in the kitchen between mom and I, and just knowing how very blessed I am with my family and so much richness!
