A great Saturday

Sheep Appreciation Day at Fort Ord!
We went to go check out some sheep!

This is what we found: A tent set up with about a dozen men working to get
a lot of sheep cool for the summer!  We found out it definitely does not hurt the sheep and when
they are on their backs, they move into a helpless position and then they can be shaved.
It was fascinating to watch.
Now, Bobo will periodically say out of the blue, "have the sheep grown back yet?"

A real cowboy? or shepherd?
Something I love about CA and the area we live in, so many
diverse things to do and learn about!

Then we got to see the process of the wool being spun.
We met a lovely woman who spun wool and educated us
about sheep.  She owns a sheep and said the Bible stories
about sheep have come alive for her.  Sheep can
recognize their owners voice.
John 10:27
"My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me."
This wool is died with natural methods.

Next stop was Pacific Groves Natural History Museum for
Science Saturday...the topic was wildflowers.

Pounding to make imprints with wildflowers

California Poppies....the state flower

A scavenger hunt through the garden

"Bug Eyes"...truly, it showed you what it would be like to see as a butterfly.

A great moment.  Deveraux using her money from her purse for some rocks she found.
She counted out her money for the first time, received her change, and her
receipt.  We had a lovely saleswoman who seemed to delight in this first experience.

Next stop, a favorite coffee shop for some sustenance!
We were then ready to head home after a full day but then
I saw a shop I wanted to step into.  Deveraux loved my spontaneity.
She said something like, "I thought we were headed home and then
we stop again."  I can be somewhat calculated when it is just the
three of us about our days.  It was fun for me to be spontaneous and
not worry about getting home.
Then as if the day wasn't enough, I had Bobo on top
of the car up to something imaginary and Deveraux transposed into a shop keeper
or maybe it was someone giving a presentation on flowers
and gardening.....
A great Saturday!
