Big Sur run day, April 28th
Races are great fun to watch and "get into" the spirit of witnessing
great effort and a common goal. Although the set up of this race was a
little bit difficult for the kids to see the runners and they were a bit restless
as we waited for dada.
I told the kids we should be seeing him soon based on his goal time (under 3 hours). And all of sudden, there he was! I was so excited and yelled and acted a bit crazy without much support from 1 and 2. I yelled out , "he did it." He had made his time (2:59).
He was a bit nervous and days leading up to the race, he was questioning his readiness. I felt he had worked hard (running hills in preparation for Hurricane Point, a 2 mile up hill) and was ready.
The race was tough!
This is right after, he almost started crying. We had a moment where time stopped and I felt he could have just crumbled in my arms as our kids looked on. Instead I fed him his snacks and we sat on the grass! He just gave it all. I told Deveraux everyone should feel and experience that at some point in their life, where you give it all, leave it all and have nothing left.
It was great to feel proud of my man!
Sustenance at Starbucks, I loved his name written on his hot cocoa!
A good morning to witness!
