Sister loves her brother

Deveraux is such a sweet big sister. She is patient, she is aware of his needs, she is nurturing, and she gives in many ways to her bro bro!

The Guests have arrived!

We have our first official guest room and we have had the pleasure of hosting family and friends throughout the summer and into the fall. I have always wanted a guest room and now we have one. We have always welcomed guests into our home, yet it is really nice to offer a room, with a bed and a light on a bedside table to others during this season.

Papa and Kimmy moved to Maui and stayed in our home until they launched out to their new place 5 minutes down the road. From mowing the lawn, to taking the kiddos, to fixing up things around our home, to making meals, they were a welcomed presence.

Aunt Heather or Lou Lou graced us with her company for Thanksgiving and Deveraux's Birthday. She came just to enjoy us and spend time, what a gift. She delighted and got to know a growing Anderson and hung out with sweet Deveraux.

My sweet friend from college days, Nikki and our new friend Anna came from Oregon to enjoy Maui sunshine and love on our kiddos. They brought enthusiasm and a wonderful time of remembering our history!

Andrew's youth pastor, Mike, back during Mississippi days and his sweet wife, Kathy come to enjoy a respite and take in Maui sites! We had fun taking them to the hit spots on Maui!

Halloween 2010!

It's the Wizard of Oz Family! Brother had been given a scarecrow costume so we built around him. Dada graciously was the lion, and yes, wore a feather boa around his head. We had a full night of hosting friends gathering at our house in between trick or treating. We have always gone trick or treating in the Kahana Ridge neighborhood even when I was pregnant with Deveraux. A full circle moment to be gathered with friends on our driveway in Kahana Ridge with Deveraux passing out candy! Wow!

Tired babies....ahh rest!

Go Sister!

Deveraux had her first hula performance. It was a cultural learning experience for both of us! We were both uncertain. Deveraux had only seen the dances a couple of times and yet was performing on stage. And momma had no idea how to get her outfitted and ready. Of course, we experienced some bumps along the way, but I was so proud of Deveraux for getting up there, making no excuses, and was just focused on the dance! And she is ready to do it again. That's Hula Girl!

It's Fall...Maui Style

So we don't have leaves falling or the fall smell in the air...but we do have a real live Pumpkin Farm in upcountry Kula!

What a fun way to celebrate such a wonderful season!

A surrendered life

I am so glad God is in charge! He cares about us, even the gardens we grow! We have loved our sunflowers, our first flowers we have grown from seeds. I hope God smiles down on the flowers we grow!

I had an overwhelming "momma" day. I sometimes feel very incompetent for this role at times. Then I receive a call from a friend who needs prayer and in the same hour hear of another friend who has just had her apartment smoked out by a fire above her and will lose belongings. I am glad God is in charge.
Why do I wait so long in the day to turn it over to Him. Why do I think I can "go it alone"... no amount of love I have for those in my care is enough, I need God. I have been thinking, "I just need a balanced life and then all will be good." I don't think God is in the business of balanced lives, He wants surrendered ones!
I am glad God is in charge! If I will just live that truth!
