Library and Carmel time

Dream Big...READ!

Deveraux worked to get her reading hours
On the way to the library

Receiving the "goods" for reading efforts!  The librarian advanced us all the goodies, trusting that we would finish our reading charts!

Next stop...Post Office
Then we stopped by the gallery where Young works and she took pictures of the kiddos in front of the Carmel candy shop where she will be painting them!

several poses

Bribing with candy works!

Marathon Training

Andrew came home one night with the idea that we should head over to Carmel High school's track and practice using a water station...I think he was kind of serious about wanting practice.

And he's off......

It is good to start with water

"On your Mark"

So Deveraux enjoyed the water station but felt frustrated because Bobo kept spilling the water...she really took her job serious and Bobo does not always cooperate as the younger brother....
It's almost time for the real deal!

Mr. Jonathan

We invited Mr. Jonathan for dinner.  Who is Mr. Jonathan....he is Bobo's favorite Sunday School teacher.  He has made drop off on Sunday's wonderfully easy!  Drew thought it would be a great idea to have him over!  He is in the military and studying the Hindi language and will be going to Pakistan in March.  He has the 3 year olds every Sunday morning and we are grateful for Mr. Jonathan!

Bobo said this was "cute"  (he he)
We had three Chinese students over for dinner to be a witness as a Christian family.  They brought us small gifts, one of those was green tea and this sweet girl made us tea with real leaves as her grandparents drink tea.

We hosted with Young and Eugene at our home.  We were asked to do this by the family who hosts our small group, these are good adventures for our family and we learned a lot about their home.  Still hard to believe they are regulated in how many children they can have...it is good to learn of others.

Deveraux dressed up as Mary for Wednesday night church, she has enjoyed going to the children's program.

some more summer fun!

Gilroy Gardens!

We are having some fun!

I love when they hold hands!!

Because of this concert with Clifford....we have the song "Party in the USA" stuck in our heads!

So I introduced my children to old movies this summer, we started with one of my favorites, 'Singing in the Rain", and they liked it!!!  Here we go to many more!  It was really fun to watch!

First time he came outside with shoes and socks on...all by himself!

These are summer days I remember....blanket down, picnic, just fun!

So Deveraux was wondering why I would take a picture of a box of puppets.  This will show the far reaching extent of my sentimentality...this box my mom gave us when we moved back to Maui, filled with little toys for Deveraux since we lived for awhile without her toys.  I needed to get rid of the box, but not without a picture!

They built a cross they were very proud of making!
This little fellow rang our bell and when I opened it, I found this image!

Another lost...tooth!

This was Deveraux's 4th tooth

So Deveraux said she was hoping it would be a fairy family that would come to deliver her tooth fairy money.  Mom kindly helped me out with the drawing of the fairies for the note and money delivery under the pillow...we didn't start until late after the kiddos were in bed.  So we had plenty of good laughs over these fairies at about midnight!  Mom is such a good sport!

Yeah!  The fairy family came!!!

My Deveraux

Sweet Deveraux,

Today at Bible study, I put you "in charge" of the kids to make sure no one got hurt.
You, my little girl, in charge?
When did you grow up under my watchful eye?
I see how you are drawn to our little one year old friend Emeline, how engaged you are, how delighted....
How is it that you became the oldest?
My heart both grieves and swells....
I am so proud and I am so thankful I get to be the one to see you grow....and grow you must....
and that too is sad
I love you and I am so proud!

First Tie!

The pictures say it all.....
