Baby Trek

This is baby Trek. Chelsea is his momma and my sweet friend from Maui. Chelsea and Jarrett found our their sweet baby boy, 9 months old has a rare genetic disorder called Neimann Pick Type A. There is no treatment or cure and will probably only live until he is 3 years old. It is unimaginable. I have an ache my heart. Chelsea has such a big heart, she exudes warmth and care and is so nurturing and loving to her three boys and all those she calls her friends!

She has a beautiful blog documenting their days at: http://www.oursonnylife.com/ and her sister also has a site for Trek (http://www.babytrekatlas.com/) which includes a place to give support for their family so they are able to spend this precious time with their son and brother. Take some time and read their blogs, Trek has an amazing birth story!!

This picture was taken at his big brothers birthday party, enjoying poolside Maui air.

My last outing with Chelsea before we left for California. We were coffee buddies, stealing away for some time to chat and hang out. Chelsea was such a good friend at pursuing and asking about my life with genuine interest. She was not on Maui long before she was inviting me and Deveraux over for lunch after a story time at Barnes and Noble.

Chelsea is confident in the choices and convictions she makes in raising her boys. She is continually pursuing ways to be creative, engaging, and making the most of the moments. She is truly "in it" as a mom and wife.

This is also a woman who bakes the best homemade bread, doesn't have to have perfectly clean house, delights in my children, and is just beautiful inside and out!

Funny moment when Chelsea's son, Peyton, picked a "flower" for her. Chelsea almost always had a flower behind her ear in Maui.

This is Chelsea's sweet sister Amanda. We had our last time at the little park by our house for some fun. Of course, Amanda made home made pizza. One of my favorite treats was going to Amanda's or homemade pizza. These two sisters have such generosity in their hearts and you feel better after having left them and in their presence, you just feel special and loved and supported. They both have helped with watching my children and were aware of our childcare needs both when we moved to our house and when we were moving out, Amanda brought warm cookies one of our last mornings in our house, and Chelsea has helped with different sewing projects for my sweet babies. They are examples and again so very generous both with their time and their hearts!

I have said before that I love to just sit in each of their houses, there is usually something yummy both for tummy and heart.

Anderson giving Trek some "lovin'"

Oh sweet baby...our prayer are with you.

I have often looked at Chelsea's life and thought, "I could use a dose of that"...meaning, she is carefree, often not bound by schedule, listening to the needs of her children and "in tune" to them. There is a freedom that is appealing. I also know since hearing about Trek, it makes me pause and hold onto my babies a little closer and respond to them. I often struggle with choices of cleaning up this or playing...I hope I make more choices to let the other stuff go that can always be done...and....close the computer and tickle Anderson. This I know I can do in Trek's name and a way to honor him and the impact of his life.

Thank you sweet sisters and Love to Chelsea, Jarrett, Peyton, Conner, and Trek...sister Amanda and all the family...
