"Bobo..ism's"

The last words Bobo said to me before he went to bed....."Dada is a really big guy."
I was about an inch from Bobo's face before bed time stories. I was discussing what we expect from him when with others.  That night we had a report from Deveraux of events that occurred during Bible study.  Bobo had reportedly hit another boy and then he kicked his other friend.  This boy of ours is a gem but he is a boy and he is a sinner and does not always make the clearest, most thoughtful decisions on his interactions...as often I have to look at him, say his name (a couple of times) to get his attention.  I am sure he is off on some adventure in his mind.  After I was done saying my words with our noses almost touching, Bobo said, "Can we just stay this way for awhile?"  "Of course Bobo."  Again, he melts my heart.
Bobo is a pretty active dreamer.....he will often say something in his sleep.  The other morning he woke up talking about the deer not eating out of his hand and he was upset.  This morning, he let out a little laugh.  His daily activity follows him into his dreams.

Bobo often sings.  Many times it is a praise song.
It always reminds me and brings me back to what I need to hear!

Growing pains

I finally took it down.
Bobo's high chair.
We always loved this chair that stopped our boy for a bit.

I just could not take it down.
It represented many things.....
My boy that maybe wasn't too grown to fit back in it at some point.....
Which meant a baby still lived here.
I think in some ways I was also waiting for our next baby to just take it over.

It can be put back up.
It has been used for other sweet babies who come to visit
and I am sure will come in days ahead.
(No way was I getting rid of it) :)

But for today, I finally took it down.
It is good to move on.
To realize you can and survive.
And make space for something else.
I will still hope,
of course.

"Today!"

If you think you are seeing a naked boy in our backyard.
You are.
There is a story.

On this day, Bobo and I had been wrestling with his listening ears.
Bobo is so busy in body and mind.
At times, I have to say his names several times, have him look at
me just to get his attention, to know he is taking in what I am saying.

One area of struggle is picking up.
My desire is to raise a boy who takes care of his things
to become a man who will lend a hand.
and one day his wife will be blessed.

I just sometimes wonder does he hear me?
Am I getting through?
I sometimes see that he totally gets it and then other times I am not so sure....
So I ask (kinda rhetorically, kinda not) as I am filling up his bath water
and he is ready to get in.....

"When are you going to start listening?'
"Today."  He responds.
He then went right outside naked and proceeded to pick up.

Grace

Below is my exchange between with Bobo after he had misbehaved.  Of course I was frustrated.
He came out with this.....

"Sorry for the way I un-behave."
"Your a good mama."

"How do you know?"

 "I just know."

These flowers were given to me by husband who had been recently
reminded how much I love fresh flowers.
On this evening, I had been complaining to him and questioning his care for me.
It came out as a petty complaint, in an area that I love his heart and yet I was
questioning that gifting of caring for others in comparison to his care for me.
Then with his Andrew sly smile, he leaves and comes back with a bouquet of flowers.
mmmmm
Petty, I realized and confessed.

We all need Grace!

Just Play

Pulling her horse

 Just Imagine....be curious....Play!
They teach us much about play
Bobo often will be lost in seeing how things work and trying to manipulate those things around him.
Deveraux and Bobo are always up to exploration and creating worlds to be in....
One thing I always think is funny is sometimes when they are imagining and in their play world and I interact with something imaginary and they respond with reality, stating that couldn't happen.
It is their world, it is their work, and it is pretty great!

Gettting ready for turning 4....

We headed to the old fire truck that sits outside a pre-school right
beside a beach path I have grown to love!

He found this little pool of water

A tired boy after so many pictures!

The invitations are ready!
Come celebrate with Bobo his four loves...Music, Fire Trucks, Ocean, and Fun...You!
Ready to go!

Lessons

We have embarked on a new adventure.
Lessons with Young!
Deveraux was wanting piano lessons.  Young volunteered to
teach her.  Then we decided she could also give her Art lessons.
Then one day it was sushi.  Then I got in on it and learned
how to use a sewing machine!
It has been such a bright spot for all of us.
Young is so generous in spirit and just so giving!

Art time
Bobo just hangs out!

We have made Valentines pillow covers, Spring pillow
covers, Easter decor, and for Bobo's birthday we made
place mats. Young keep saying I am spurring her on to
new creations, as she has made fire pants for Bobo and
bunnies for both of them.  I say it is her....I think it is both
of us!  We work well together.  She is so encouraging
and we enjoy the creative process together.  We also
 enjoy good conversation.
Although, now I have to give back the time to Deveraux.
I was starting to come in on her time a little bit.

Young's fun food art!  She just loves giving to
Bobo and Deveraux.  She always has fruit and
vegetables beautifully laid out and waiting for us.
We feel so loved and our cups overflow!
