Big Sur Mud Run!

Here we go!
So Andrew asked me if I wanted to do this mud run about a
month ago.  The only thing I wanted to make sure was that I would not
be crawling through a mud tunnel.  No mud tunnels, just 5 miles of 4 mud pits,
3 climbing walls, a lot of uphill, running in sand, push up
stations, and lots of Army people either telling us,
"Way to go" or "Get going!"
But it was fun!
There is crazy mama!

Our cheering fans!
This is what the last mud pit looked like, you had to
crawl underneath.
Go Eugene!  This was his first race.  It was fun to cheer
him on.  I would tell the army volunteers to cheer him on
by name.  At first, he couldn't figure out how they knew
his name.  (he he)

Our team...we hoped to have 5, but had trouble securing a final person.
The rule was you had to link arms as we crossed the line.
Eugene and I started because Andrew was waiting for Chris
and then he came running up after a short while when Christ didn't show...
then about 2 miles in, Christ showed up.
It was funny but fit the feel of the run.
There was a lightness about the run with all the groups.

We had a good time...good camaraderie, fun cheering
on Eugene together, getting into the "whole Army
Boot camp" thing with all the whoops and hollers.
When you are supporting someone else, you
just don't feel your pain as much...
....and Drew had fun with me!

Trying to get some mud off!

Sweet Joy and her kiddos came to cheer us on!
It was a great morning!

Character award for Dev

Bobo and I headed to Carmel River to surprise Deveraux that
we were  there to celebrate her award!
Deveraux was called up to received the award for
Trustworthiness and Caring for Spanish Class.

She was a bit shy and slid right in next to her classmate and stared at that award!

We are proud of you Deveraux!!

happy st. pats

Happy St. Patrick's Day!
It was really fun the night before, the kids got really into picking out their green outfits for the day!
We headed to church and a bummer that dada had
to go to work.

After church we headed to a birthday party....

A fun racing birthday party for our friend, Elijah!

Ready, Set, Go!
And they raced their cars....

Happy Birthday Elijah!
A boy blessed with such loving parents!

Deveraux....these days...

our girl
*She likes to play teacher
*dance to Kids Bop on her Ipad
*watch Popular Mechanics videos (learn about different things from animals, to fire fighters, and how things work)
*read
*have personal space when she needs it
*loves pizza, popcorn, soda, lasagna, bagels, berries
*Help with parties and gatherings
Today Deveraux said, "boys are lucky...the President is a boy and God is a boy."

We were going through Deveraux's closet and she had a pile that she was not going to keep.
She said, "I have had a good life with them."
well said!
Deveraux is my cheerleader.
She told me she thinks I am such a good cook.  Which is funny to me,
it is not an area that comes easy or my "go to" for enjoyment.
The other day I was working on a project (which is a "go to" for enjoyment")
she showed Bobo.  "Look what mama did!"  She is always
complementing my work, "wow, that is so good."
We all need cheerleaders in our corner!
  Thank you sweet girl.
Deveraux has been doing great with school.  She had her first day a couple of weeks ago when she did not want to go.  She said she was missing me and just wanted to be home.  Drew and I let her stay home.  Andrew wanted her to write out sentences about why she wanted to stay home. :)  She did her school packet and we worked a little on piano and then we spend several hours at Young's house in the afternoon learning and creating.  It was good for me to allow her to trust herself and know it is okay to take a day off when needed.  She was ready for school the next day.
The other evening when we came home, it was dusk and had been raining.
Deveraux said, "It is so pretty outside."  Wow, one of my greatest desires
is for my kiddos to see, notice, and be stopped to enjoy beauty.

Deveraux, you are beautiful!

Bobo days

I am calling Bobo "Pooh Bear" these days...it fits!
I had asked Deveraux to help Bobo get ready for church.  He came in the room
and said, "Deveraux blessed me!"  Because she had helped him!
We watched my friends kiddos today.
Bobo saw Elijah's closet full of clothes and said, "I don't want
to play with toys. I want to try on clothes."
And he did!  But he also played with toys!
Bobo asked me before I headed out for my morning run,
"Can I give you a hug for your run so you don't forget about me?"
Bobo said to me last night in bed right before he fell asleep,
"You are really special to me"
Bobo sometimes becomes a little shy.  The other night we had some friends for dinner.  At first he went into his room and then hid his face and then after a little while he told me,  "I realized they
are nice people and I don't have to be afraid."

 Bobo loves this kitty
He loves his wet suit and sissy's wet suit and will
wear them whenever he feels the urge!
"Bobo, why do you have dirt on your mouth?"
I ask as he comes in from outside playing.
"Because I ate dirt."
okay, that explains it.
Found some yummy olives out one morning on Mr. man's dresser,
I guess just a little morning snack.
This was the day I could not let pass without taking him to the water because it was so beautiful out.  He bounded from rock to rock in happiness, sure delight!  He was just exuding joy!  I realized I need to do this for him.  As a child, he cannot take himself down to the ocean,  It is up to me ti bless him with one of his favorite outlets.  He would just stare at the water, I think I am looking at another water man in my life!  There appears to be a strong connection and love and I want to foster that and just give it to him to experience!
One night during Bath,  Deveraux was needing to soak a really hurt sore on her knee,
we had just used peroxide on it and she was crying. Bobo said, "I wish I could be a
mama and I could take care of Deveraux."
Oh sweet Bobo, a tender heart!
Bobo will find me sometimes in the house
he will come up to me and say, "Can I hug you?"

Surf, rescue, coast guard....
It is good to be with you Bobo each day!
