Deveraux had a week off in February, we were glad to have her home!
On Sunday, we headed to Natural Bridges, a beautiful beach in Santa Cruz,
for the day with some dear friends.
Deveraux loves her pal, Emeline!
and I love my pal, Joy!
We spent the night in San Jose so we could have fun at the
children's museum the next day and to make it a mini trip.
Being "presidential" on Presidents Day!
Mama and her cubs!
Looking good my boys!
Fun art with a rolling golf ball and paint
Deveraux really enjoyed making a corn stalk doll.
A surfing corn stalk doll!
We love a Road Trip!
Stanford!! We decided to make a stop at Stanford and once again Andrew and I reveled in the college atmosphere as I asked, why didn't one of us work in a college setting??...I guess because Andrew didn't want to be stuck somewhere in Kansas.....
We ended the night at Barnes and Noble..the closest bookstore
to us, it is about 45 minutes away.
It's Laura Engels
Popcorn party on the porch in the rain....we sang some rain songs..
We had such a good home day. Not all home days are as good, but this one was great!
Everyone got along, we were content and peaceful, just good! I have such a glad
heart at the end of these kind of days!
Wearing his wet suit...yes, at home.
LOVE capturing them reading
Deveraux would wake up most mornings reading during her week off. It is funny during school days she was quick to come out and turn a show on TV while the rest of us are catching our final Zzzzzz... but during this week, she was reading away!
Her smoothie store
We finally started on our Art Lab book. I read a recommendation for this book. Our first exercise was contour drawing...we set up a still life and then tied to just draw the shapes we noticed.
One of Dev's requests for her week was to go to the park. We met out Maui
friends who moved to CA, Katy, Kailani, and Bodhi.
We met Toby. He looked like a bear walking up the path to the park,
his owner was really nice and said there are only three of his breed in
the Monterey Peninsula. They like a colder climate...with all that bear hair!
He was really sweet and just so big!
We went to Disney on Ice, back in San Jose.
Of course, dada's idea.
It was exciting to take them to a big event.
We were excited!!
We all loved this part!
Bobo said this is the part he would have liked to be in!
Deveraux has never "been into" princesses. I think mostly because the princess movies
were frightening to her. But after this night, she was a bit more fond of them.
Deveraux bought some running pants with money from Christmas. She had been waiting for the the time when we could go on a run together in the morning. So I took her on one of my morning times. She ran up the big hill to our house, I was proud of her. We had a sweet time together.
Bobo loving his water time more and more!
Our friends, Joy, Emeline, and Elijah. We were trying to be spontaneous after a Bible study one Friday and say, "Let's go the beach at 2:00 in the afternoon instead of a rest time." Well it was really fun until Deveraux's skin became very irritated with her remaining poison oak and Bobo got cold...so I had two crying children trying to make it back to the van. I felt bummed about trying to be spontaneous and then feeling "zinged" for it. But as my friend reminded me, sometimes things just happen but you keep trying. I also know I am wanting them to have a good time and not have anything "spoil" our time. Yet, kids are so resilient. They move on quickly and still can reflect having had a good time. Just as they are quick to get over it and quick to get to get bummed and "max out". It is just me who has to be the "level-headed one" ahhhhh
Heading to a birthday party for a friend from Deveraux's school. A princess party. Bobo decided he would be the prince with wings who would "skate" around. So the last two parties we all go together because Deveraux does not like to go alone... so I go...and so Bobo goes! Thankfully, the hosting moms have been kind letting us all come along!
These two sat together while I sat behind them during
the performance, very grown up!
A very sweet Cinderella!
We invited the family who hosted our life group over for dinner. We will not continue doing this life group anymore as we are going to be a part of something else twice a month. We are grateful we had this time with a sweet family...the kids love their daughter Erika and when after dinner she asked to see Bobo's toys, a dream came true!
