Fabulous Four on The Big Island

We are off on an Inner Island trip.  We are celebrating Fabulous Four,
soon to become Fantastic Five.  But we want to celebrate our party
of four before we welcome Five.  The plan was to maybe go to
somewhere faraway like...Australia for a trip, but we traded that for a baby
and a celebration of Four.  A good trade I would say!

We rose early to meet a co-worker of Andrew's, Pastor Tom who
owns a plane and agreed to fly us in his plane to the Big Island.

I was a little nervous.

It was beautiful...this is the last part of Maui before
open ocean.  I must admit I was thinking about
crashing and how long we would have to wait in
the water the further we were from land.

She fell asleep

You land in the middle of lots of lava on the Big Island.

Our first stop was breakfast and coffee!  A huge surprise was a
new camera to replace my broken one.  WOW!
...So tired from our early rise!

Hawaii Volcano National Park, their is smoke in the background
from the lava. We heard about the Pele legend.

We learned lots of cool stuff from the park rangers,
It is amazing how the birds and trees are adaptable
to their surroundings in this park and in the crater.
Lava tubes
Hawaiians would collect water from the drops coming down
from the ceiling of the cave.

The steam was powerful coming out of the ground.
A magical night seeing an erupting volcano.  It was very dramatic
and you knew you were witnessing something very special.
Bobo said when we were reflecting on the year that this was
one of his learning highlights
A once in a lifetime viewing!
We were not well prepared for cold and rainy having left
warm Maui.

It's good we don't always stay in our employee rate Marriott's!
A waterfall the next day in Kona.

Drew found a used book store for us!

Two very big caves to discover!

Back to the volcano...we decided one more time to witness the
amazing natural phenomenon

They took the Junior Park Ranger oath,

(New camera debut)

Everybody wanted to use the new camera!

This was the viewing site for the volcano.

We are happy to have a good camera again!

Thank you Marriott for great rates!

Another Dev vision

I had to give the baby a ride!

Dev went down the slide about 75 times!

Fabulous FOUR!

Off to Oahu....

Aloha!
