The Nativity

Everyone loves a good story where the pictures jump off the page
from the book.  Tonight we tell you a story, one of the greatest
stories.  So curl up in your comfy chair and listen as we pull back
the pages of The Nativity and allow the pictures to jump
off the page.  Literally.  And maybe you will see the
pictures in a new light.  Because He always wants
to reveal something new to us.
Merry Christmas.
This was my second year directing the Christmas play at church.
Deveraux and I were reading The Nativity and I thought what an
amazing Christmas play to have these pictures come alive.
It is a wonderfully creative picture book with the words
right out of the Bible.  But the pictures provoke one to look
at the familiar scenes in a new light.
Mary and Joseph..I love that they are the right color!!
Deveraux Grace stood in the back, waving ribbons and
proclaiming as Gabriel, "Unto you this day is
born a Savior!"  She was the star of the show!
Then I had our dozen angels run with ribbons dancing
to the song, "I am a Child of God" around the church with white
lights in their hair.
Bobo and Natalie sang and played, "Do you hear what I hear."

Bobo really wanted to be an angel, he wanted to be one last
year as well...this year I said okay.  So we had two boy angels.

The last vignette of Mary and Joseph headed out of
Bethlehem...and Cambria represented Jesus for us in that scene.

Whew!  We did it!  The kids did so great!

My "Mary"
Catherine so lovingly and willingly stepped in and helped us
with our music by playing guitar and leading the kiddos
in Christmas carols.  It is always a lot of work and stress along the
way but thankful we were a part of it.  There were some
mishaps that happened along the way but my two shone that night.
Dev was not able to lead the dance around the church because she could
not get her microphone off as it was tangled.
She was so gracious and okay with it.   Bobo was
so good about remembering his part and getting right where he
needed to be for his song and being okay when his microphone
would not go on right away.  I love seeing their hearts
develop and after all that is what The Nativity is all about.

Lights

Time to decorate!  We are doing a simple Christmas at
home since we are due for the road soon.

I grew up with that sweet castle decoration.
Hanging the first ornament- a football
Our First Christmas ornament
Papa got to be with us!

They were a little sad about the size and type
of tree we had...but, we are hitting the road soon!
Dev always hangs the angel..this time,
tree was a bit lower.

School activity...from our "Story of the World"
text we are building an edible oasis.

Dev giving Cambria a tour of our Christmas.
I made these clay stars with Dev when she was about 2 and we did
not have many decorations as most were in storage.

Hanging her first ornament.

This was an ornament that hung on our tree when I was young.
These two love Christmas and all the decorations.  They look forward
to getting out the décor year to year and love remembering.  This
year we went up into the attic and attempted to only bring down
our favorites.

Sugar cookie TIME!

They love all the traditions!
