Day 4 meets Mt. Vernon, Arlington Cemetary, and memorials.

We hung out with a friend of Andrew's that he used to
work at in Maui that has now relocated to DC.
He has been working so much that he hasn't done a lot
of sightseeing...well the day he hung with us,
we changed that for him!
First stop was Mt. Vernon, home
of George Washington.
I told the kids as we walked into Mt. Vernon that
George Washington had been a hero of mine as a
child.  I even dressed like him for an All Saints Day
Party....even powdered by hair.  I even had a little
plastic statue of him.  Now I'm not sure what it
was that drew my focus to him but after learning
more about him this day, there were many admirable
qualities in his humble leadership.

We are going inside.
I was not super impressed with the actual tour.
The tour guides move you through pretty quickly
and you feel that.  It was interesting to see George's
actual bed that he slept in and died in.  His wife
never slept in their room again after he died.

A recreation of what he would have looked like.
Scientists worked hard to reconstruct the
the president's features based upon how
he looked when he was older.
Bobo performing a swearing in ceremony.

Arlington Cemetery was our next stop.

The tomb of the unknown solder.
This is ceremonially guarded 24 hours/7 days
a week!  Which is just amazing.

The changing of the guard.  Very formal and very serious.

The moto is "An unknown solider known but to God."

Coolest statue of Einstein!

Oh yes...the Lincoln Memorial!

We ended the night at Founding Farmers.  I think
we were eating about 10:00 pm!  I looked across
the street and saw this embassy building/old houses
stuck in the middle of the new modern building.
That is what is great about a city...you just
never know what you will find!

The fountains were a great diversion while
waiting.

The kids were excited to see a lit up White House
on the way back to the hotel.
A messy dress means a good day!
