Drew got up early and got us tickets
so we could see the top of the Washington
Monument.
Yeah Dada!
Our Fourth of July baby (really its the 3rd but
close enough).
It was cool seeing all the sights from so high above.
Had to go see one of the most beautiful
buildings...Library of Congress.

Next time it would be fun to go on a tour,
but no time we have a plane to catch and we
still have to learn something about the Capitol!
Last stop...The Capitol.
One night in the hotel going to sleep and
Bobo was holding my head. Like he used to
when he was little. He gave me a look and it just
came to me, the thought that one day he
will look at his wife like that. It was a loving
look. I don't want to be so uptight with him
(like when he sings in a loud opera voice in public)
that I miss who he is his humor and I don't enjoy him.
Yup!
love this pic
Fredrick Douglas- I was in the "Adventures of
Fredrick Douglas" in grade school.
I really wanted the kids to see either the Senate
or the House of Representatives. We went
on a tour that showed a great movie and
some statues but no house or senate. So we
went and found out about another tour.
Thinking it was the right tour, but alas
we saw the old house of representatives
and received another tour from a great 80 year
old tour guide-but found out you have
to receive tickets from your state representative.
Ugh. Oh well..Next time.
Our great tour guide said to mostly the
kiddos in the group-you need to be
educated and dedicated. She made
an effort to inspire.
Every state donates two statues to
the Capitol. Here is one of Hawaii's.
Father Damien who showed kindness
to the leapers.
Rosa Parks...she sits in the important room,
the old House of Representatives.
I loved being in a place with so much history
in such a small area...with the ongoing
reality that history is still currently being made.
A wonderful city. Thank you DC!
Our days continued to be late mornings with longer
afternoons into the evenings. I didn't want to work
hard on getting used to a new time zone only for
a week. We had full days but we had a good pace.
We didn't go to Astro donuts, The Cathedral,
Adams Morgan neighborhood, and a yummy
Mexican restaurant that just always had too
long of a wait. Next time. But we saw a lot!
We had such a memorable trip....educational,
interesting, new, enlightening, and filled trip.
I realized once again the importance of our family
taking trips. We are all on a more equal ground.
We build new memories with unexpected turns.
We don't have the distraction of our home and
the duties that come with day to day living at home.
Trips are definitely a part of our families story and
I am so glad.
Election year...had to document at the airport.
Here we come Colorado!
