Okay little one, we are going to try shoes.
We are in the big city now.
Ready to hit the streets...it was probably almost
noon. We had trouble adjusting to the 6 hour
time change and with only a week here, I didn't
want to stress about changing our time
clocks too much.
The great thing about D.C. is while you are on
your way to something, you see a million other
"somethings" along the way that you
didn't plan on seeing.
We ducked into the National Archives Building
to see the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution,
and the Bill of Rights. You cannot take pictures inside,
but it was really amazing seeing those original autographs!
Bobo said as we were there, "I feel like we are in
Disneyland." Not sure if it was the standing in
line knowing we were going to experience
something pretty cool..."
He said about the Bill of Rights, 'looks really old."
I loved these pics when I wanted the capital in
the background and they both put up their
hands. We had a couple of hot days in DC!
And there is the monument to prove we were there!
Next up was the Air and Space Museum along with
a million other people! It was crowded. Looking back,
this was one of the more challenging museums. I am sure
much of it had to do with the amount of people and
I had a hard time finding a place for Cambria. I also
had a hard time figuring out the best way to get our kids to
walk away with some base knowledge on what we
were seeing.
This was a hit with Bobo, I love that he still can
enjoy pretending to ride in an airplane, even
though he didn't want to readily admit it...
he did go twice.
A fun interactive kids area.
Favorite pictures of the day.
Wright Brothers plane.
There are all those people! I did briefly listen in on
a tour guide about Amelia Earhart. It was really
fascinating. I think that would have been the
way to go if we had three kiddos of the age to
listen to the stories.
I had to get in on the food truck action...my family waited
at the Art Museum.
National Museum of Art
Everything is just lovely in these buildings!
The real thing! They drew lily pads in school
last year and they remembered the Monet!
We loved that someone thought it was important
enough to save all this art!
Dev was so sweet, she started taking pictures
for Gigi.
Gigi named one of her cats, Toulouse.
All this art and culture can get one a bit tired!
Oh that stroller...the only day we brought it.
Andrew and I would just carry Cambria.
It was Bobo's friend for a day while we worried
about it running into one of the beautiful
pieces of art.
We all needed sustenance!
Mama spotted a coffee shop!
We all left revived and refreshed with caffeine
and sugar! Andrew and Bobo hit the
International Spy Museum and Dev and I hit
Anthropology!
Thinking of Aunt Heather, Hi Lou Lou!
Cambria being introduced to the world
of dressing rooms!
Anthro...we love this store!
Fun building.
On the way home, we found this cool screen for
a photo opp!
We went down to the lobby to meet my boys
running home in the rain from
the spy museum.
Another great day. Ended the night with some
food in the room and chilling out together.
We look forward to our next adventures!
