Cairns & Port Doglas

We are packing for a new adventure,
we are headed to Cairns and Port Douglas.
Airport coffee.

Meat pies in the airport.
Here we go!
A pillow has been great on our plane trips & hello Deveraux shoes!

Fancy Australian airports.
A Familiar scene...arrive and get a rental car.
We realized these two were matching.  We had a funny
story regarding our hotel.  There are no Marriott's in
Cairns, so we looked up a hotel on hotwire and when
we pulled into the place we thought was our hotel,
things didn't seem quite right.  It seemed a bit "shady".
Andrew who is pretty liberal in where we stay
felt this wasn't the place and if it was, we would not
be staying.  But then we found the right hotel.
Once we checked in, we hit the streets to explore
the area.  The goal was food.  We headed
for the Esplanade.

We are not used to a warning sign and not
being able to jump in any body of water we see.

We heard about this café for meat pies, so
we had to go find it.

Met some super nice guys in a coffee shop.
The shop had bags of beans to choose your
bean and have it freshly made for you.
Road trip with baby food!
Hartley's Crocodile Adventure was our stop.  It was
like a low key family-style Sea World.  Our kids were
excited to see the animals.  Because of all the "croc talk",
Bobo was a bit fearful, which is a healthy fear in this
area.  One does not just go jumping in the water in
this area due to crocs and jelly fish.
Crocs!
Okay, this mama got so hot.  I think part of it was
holding Cambria and the humidity was high.
I had to hang out in the gift shop to get a little relief.
I even got chills from the heat.  We had some
icy drinks and that really helped.
These babies are growing to have their skins sold soon.
The prices for croc skin is incredibly high!

Boat trip to see the crocs.

One of Bobo's faces.

A highlight for all of us was this show.

She slept through the petting of Kangaroo's.

Bobo had a heart for this one, he was very old.

Drew was "killing" me.  He kept looking at me
hoping I was taking pictures, and I was.  But
his face was like, "Did you get this one?"

Oh the faces of Drewy!

See what I mean....

And another one....
Love when Dev captures us!
Dinner out- often when traveling we get to the point of
dinner and we are all hungry and we aren't sure where
to eat.  We found a super yummy Mexican restaurant,
expensive but good.
Time to hit the books!
The kind of croc you can ride!
The kids loved the pools.  It was warm and the water was warm,
but they had fun playing and it was fun to chill out a bit
at our current home base.
Nap time while big kiddos has pool time!

Down comforters, air conditioning, room service!
Not overated!!

Just a reminder we are in Australia.  Here in Port Douglas,
many of the plants were similar to Hawaii.

Dev saw this park in a travel video and so this
was her pick to come check it out.

We love exploring!  This was a slower day with
pool time and a sunset stroll in Port Douglas.
Always good to have a slower day amongst
sight seeing days.
I was just hoping for fall weather in Australia,
it was hot in Port Douglas!  Fall was on its way
to Australia, but this is typically an area with a warmer climate.
