Picnic!
Day 14. These two have found a place to picnic outside out hotel
windows. Thankful when they are acting as "mates" in this season
when the message of kindness is on repeat so very often.
Adventure #1
Daintree rainforest, which is the world's oldest
rainforest. I really enjoyed hearing about the indigenous
people used and learned forest for their survival,
the forest met their needs.
Miss Cambria climbed all the stairs in that wooden
structure to view the canopy in the forest.
We saw a wild Cassowary and baby.
We were on our way to Cape Tribulation and
made a quick stop to this beach. Andrew and I
took turns so Camrbia could sleep in the car.
They found this cool swing, it was pretty fun!
I loved seeing Bobo look at his adventurous mama!
Peter Pan!
I love seeing Bobo and his adventurous self!
Adventure #2
Cape Trib, where rainforest meets reef. We went
on a beach hunt to find their meeting.
We see ocean water, is this it?
....ocean meeting forest?
I wanted us to press on, there has got to be a more
dramatic meeting.
Reef! Forest!
Love these 3!
Adventure #3
Kuranda
So we had a dress that needed to dry,
so we borrowed an extra shirt I had while
we waited for the train. Just as we drove into
the parking lot for this trip, Cambria got sick.
It was so strange, I had a dream the night before that
she got sick. I don't think she has ever thrown up?
Very strange. But she was great the rest of the day.
Oh yes, coffee. But need to work on iced coffee.
I think I am warming my insides up too much
with hot coffee in hot weather.
Here it comes!
Bobo said, "Now I know how fun it is to be on a passenger
train." He said he loved the atmosphere. It was really cool
that the train remained authentic.
We saw the front of the train as we were more
towards the back.
We went through 15 tunnels and 55 bridges.
We climbed through Barron Gorge National Park.
We liked being outside.
Matching Hats!
Dada is thinking about an Australian hat?!?
We reached Kuranda. It was a small town and we
were deposited on a main street with shops.
It was a bit hot and Dev and I were looking
for excuses to stop in the air conditioned shops.
His playing was very impressive.
We found our indigenous guy! He was super nice
and taught us some aboresonial culture,
specifically about the didgeridoo-Yigi Yigi
instrument. I was excited and so was Bobo!
Bobo said he is going to practice and get really
good, this was his souvenir pick.
We took the Sky rail down from Kuranda.
It was so fun being above the trees.
There were two educational stops on the way
down and a waterfall lookout.
I loved seeing the "natural" hanging
baskets in the trees. The indigenous
people also used these baskets to catch food.
#4 Adventure!
The Great Barrier Reef.
It took an hour and half going at 32 knots from
Port Douglas to see some beautiful coral and fish.
The best was being in the water with Bobo and Dev,
I couldn't share in it with Drew because we had
to take turns with Cambria.
Okay, loved the cat woman suits.
I did not I would, but I did feel a little super
hero come out in me in the one piece slick black suit!
And we saw everyone else renting them to protect
against anything unwanted in the ocean.
We had fun exploring the reef together.
Bobo in the reef.
Dev
ME!
So glad we got to get her in at the Great
Barrier Reef before she was 2!
Some of us sat here a lot during the journey and others of us
were up and around.
She wanted this souvenir from the gift shop.
Loads of fun?!?
Trip reality. When the hotel wants to charge $9.00
for a shirt and the employee rate does not cover laundry,
one heads to the local Laundromat. It still wasn't cheep,
but better! From the Great Barrier Reef to the
swirls of dirty clothes.
Photo shoot, last night at the pool before we head to Sydney.
Eating pizza on a pizza! Kind dada was finishing
up all our loads of laundry and finding a place
to heat up our leftover pizza.
You know you're on holiday when....You are
shirtless and eating pizza down the hotel
hallway. Off to Sydney tomorrow!
We are ready.
