Into Mexico. Day 53

Ready to go to work with his work gloves!
So good to reconnect with our family in our hotel room before we hit the road!

lots of silliness!

We parked our cars at a church in El Paso, Texas and loaded up the Missions
Ministry trailer with all of our luggage and donations.

Circled up for crossing the border instructions seeing new faces
that we don't know yet....
What was once a "Woody Hat" from Toy Story
is now a sombrero...

We all piled into 3 big white vans, these would be our
transportation for the next several days.
First stop was Wal-Mart to buy some items for our
new houses that were to be built...and to buy some
water and snacks.
We also stopped to get some infant cold medicine as
that is in short supply and needed.
Our duty was to find bedding.  Of course, we picked out
very cute items with matching throw pillows.  We had to
go back and re-select when we found out we went over
our budget.  Deveraux picked out a frame for us to give
to the family.
Headed up to the Border office.   It was kind of wild
to see guards with big guns...really wanted a picture
of the guard but thought he might not like that!

We had to fill out our visa's.

Even Bobo had to sign.  A rude awakening for me,
I could not read the fine print, time to get out the glasses
that I never use!
Receiving our passport stamps.
Now we have crossed the border/  We were driven into
a large compound with a big gate that would be our home.
We were given a key to one of the rooms that make
a square with the kitchen and dining hall completing the square.  The rooms
were clean and comfortable and reminded us of a hostel type room.
We first met in the large room for our first shared meal.
Next we unloaded the trailer to get all of our
belongings and store all the donations and craft
items we would be using.  The picture above is in the middle of all the rooms.

All the kids in our group and there were many were
running free around the compound, it was fun to
witness a familiar scene as to when we were growing
up and experienced the "family camp" feel.
It was a bit difficult to get our bearings driving as we drive into
Mexico in the dark.
It was going to be an early morning for the Gallagher's
(devotions at 7:00 am....What???)
...who had been going to bed late and sleeping in....
But I was looking forward to and with some anticipation to the next day.
