Super "Bicycle" Sunday

So Super Bowl Sunday became Super Bicycle Sunday for the Gallagher's!
(and the Super Bowl was being recorded)
We hit Sunset Center parking lot for a large flat surface, as there are many hills and narrow streets in Carmel by the Sea that make it difficult for new riders.  We were wanting to have this be the first of many practices so we could get this girl off of her training wheels.  I had felt bad that we had not taken her out so she could learn.  Well it took about 5 minutes.....

....And she was Off!  Could not believe she was doing it and so quick, she just took off!
We were so proud of her!
We looked up in the sky and saw these balloons floating, blessings for Bobo as they came soaring down into a bush and he was ready for the retrieval!

We have now seen a couple of theses electric stations for cars...the future!

So now it is Bobo's turn...we will try without his training wheels...
\
Listening to instructions
There he goes!!!

Yeah Bobo!
But riding his bike soon gave way to playing with balloons.

Oh Yeah!  Good punch!
Then sitting on the car, in protest, wanting those training wheels back on!

So back on they go!  Maybe another day....
Yeah Devy!

I would run along side of her...coaching as we went, it made her feel more safe in case she fell.  Then we would count and see how far she could make it without stopping.
We went out a few times after this first time and she has really enjoyed it.  I see a freedom expressed in being able to ride her bike on her own.  The last time we went out, she was getting quite comfortable as she rang her bell while riding, unfortunately, she fell.  She skinned her knee and had tears.  But then she said, I want to ride to the car.  That is my girl, full of determination.  It will serve her well.  Oh Deveraux, so proud of you on this marker of life.
As they say, "just like riding a bicycle!"
