Woke up to this kind note from Tia.
We put some hours into that kitchen!
We are road trippin!
Rain was coming down, but we plodded ahead!
Deveraux house (of course) first stop!
Mightly Mississippi!
Hopefully we will see them all!
Stoppin' for some lunch....
On the hunt for cool buildings & doorways,
we didn't realize the town shuts down on Sundays.
A stop at Mamaw's house.
Such a safe place for Andrew in his growing years with her.
We always love going to this old cemetery.
We found an Antebellum house to tour.
It would be a slave girl who would pull the rope
for the fan during meals, so she knew much that
went on in the household, hearing all the conversations!
It is interesting to see these old homes and how people lived,
But always coated with the pain and tragedy of grief. Always.
Words of a former slave.
The slave market became a refuge.
Mighty Mississippi
Everybody is doing it....
Andrew and I were always fascinated by this drop off
into the sea right along the home's edges.
Friends and family houses.
A great way to end our Natchez journey at this park.
One last stop, the place where slaves were traded,
Slaves names listed. Doesn't seem real sometimes.
Hotel stay for the night.
It is so good to show our kids each year a part of
their legacy in Natchez. It was such a formative place
for Andrew growing up. It became a special place to
me, as I visited while we were still dating. And I love
that we have our stops each time we come. Thus time I had
an extra eye on learning.stay
