We were needing a good place to stay, we found one
with an indoor pool. Deveraux loved this place because
her and Bobo had the freedom to run around, something
they haven't always been able to do at the places we have stayed.
I have missed this for Bobo as well and those times I see
that he is "trip weary" I think he misses our home and that
freedom of running around wherever he wants to.
PCT trail that goes all the way from Mexico to Canada,
2600 miles of hiking. It takes the average person about
5 months. Andrew was reading a book called, "Wild" about a
woman hiking the trail and so he wanted to check it out.
My favorite was these little water droplets on the branches.
We did not walk long on the trail, just enough to see it.
Crossing the bridge back into the Oregon side, the trail
head was on the Washington side.
Columbia River
We headed into the town of Mt. Hood, we didn't stop except
for gas. Bobo said, "My toes need to walk."
Pretty much the main stop of the day was
the Columbia Gorge Discovery Center and
the Wasco County Historical Museum.
The Wasco county at one point was the biggest county in
the United States so the museum was really big,
There was a lot to see.
We saw a raptor demonstration with a red tailed hawk and
a great horned owl, the kiddos really liked this show.
A highlight for Bobo was this rifle that he
found and carried around for the remained of
our visit. He said he tried to kill goliath
and animals and he said he was search and rescue.
There was this yarn that you could use to make little
dolls. Bobo thought for sure we could make a tassel
like the cold one on this uniform.
Defending our little family!
Deveraux said she liked this because there were voices
telling the story about crossing the Columbia River on the
logs and she could fit in and be like Little House on the
Prairie. Settlers were coming from the east and the
waters were very treacherous to cross. Deveraux said
it was hard to stand on the logs.
So we ended the night at the factory outlets trying to get some
new running shoes for Drew and I. We have had a deal with the
kids that they can pick out a small souvenir in each state we visit.
Bobo really wanted an eagle pin at our last stop. He had a really hard
time deciding if he wanted that to be his last purchase for that state. He
said no to the pin but started crying and said, "I just want so many things." I
understand buddy. He said he just didn't want it to be his last thing.
It was a hard, but true to life.
So fast forward to this night, we went into Disney store and he found a
Woody hat and gun holster set (from Toy Story). He decided this was it. It was
foam and I was just not so sure of the purchase, but he was. He was so happy with that big hat.
Deveraux and I were giggling as we watched him proudly walk to the car.
We showed him the picture of Woody and he said, "Woody, who is Woody?" As he
has never actually seen Toy story.
Also, back in the car, we had to put a diaper on Bobo because it was not convenient
to pull the van over and Deveraux said, "This is tripping!"
On to Portland tomorrow!
