Halloween in Seattle!
We have 80"s fashion and Peter Pan
He mostly was Peter Pan to be able to have the sword
which was broken by the time Halloween arrived but
with a rubber band it was good as new.....almost.
We went along as pirates.
So Andrew and I felt prepared and ready to tackle
Halloween in the big city and devote the afternoon
into the evening to festivities. We had done some
research. So out first stop was the waterfront. We
stopped to take some pics for the great pirate background....
.....and had fun!
Peter pan got us!
Bobo wanted this picture,
So we walked around and could not find any festivities,
Andrew asked and we found out it was Last weekend!
mmmmm.....we found a pirate shop and seized more
picture opportunities!
"need coffee"
We look at the waterfront as just a picture taking opportunity.
On to the next event that we researched.
This is the next opportunity....a beautiful tree with fall leaves.
There was no event at the address listed.
A stop to eat at McDonalds...later I saw several pictures
of candy on my camera taken by Dev with the candy she
received at McDonalds, I wonder if she was worried she
would not see any more candy.
We finally made a hit at the downtown Children's Museum
hosting a free Halloween event. The kids had some fun
with the different tables sponsored by different companies
with an activity and a treat...Boeing had candy that you made
into an airplane.
They had all these rooms that represented different
countries homes and places of businesses.
Right outside the museum there was this amazing fountain that
Bobo found (after we found Bobo-who was right behind us until
he saw the fountain).
Bobo commanded the water with his sword.
There was music playing, water flowing, and Bobo was There!
Later he told me he was directing!
He got a little wet and we still had some trick or treating to tend to....
He told me this was his highlight on Halloween!
We thought we could still get in two more activities on the
list...but due to traffic and a bad highway accident, we could
do only one (neighborhood trick or treating), we turned off to Mercer Island,
a place Andrew wanted to check out, parked the car, and hoped for the best.
It was slow starting, we really only saw one other family,
but....we kept on and we found good houses.
They even received two toothbrushes from a dentist!
Deveraux made a change into her second costume. She wanted
to be Betsy from a children's Book series (my favorite growing up).
She found the perfect dress and was excited.
I love seeing them at the door. We had to keep coaching them
to say Trick or Treat when the door would open. The first few\
houses, Bobo would say, "Could I have some candy?" Then we
had to keep working on, 'Thank you." But by the end of the night,
Deveraux was telling them to have a good night, she even
told someone they had a pretty house.
Wet pants for Bobo, I took his boots off in the car
and his socks were damp (from his fountain directing), but that didn't stop
some good Halloween trick or treating energy! Bobo and Deveraux were so
was tired by the end of the night!
So we came a long way from 2 candies to all this!!!!
The negations began. We got Bobo to sleep but Deveraux
was so looking forward to the trading part of the Halloween
tradition. I asked Deveraux if she would take money
for the candy...no, she did not like that idea especially when the
amount was mentioned. But then after trading was complete,
she stated to just give us her candy. She kept a baggie full,
but said she mostly like getting the candy and then trading,
but the eating part was okay.
I discovered this on my camera. Of course, I did not know
Andrew took this...of course I am always getting out my
camera at odd hours and odd times, but my sweet
husband blessed me by taking this all too familiar photo
of bodies strew across the bed. The kids laughed when
they saw Sinbad (coast guard stuffed animal) sleeping with us.
I love that last photo:) so precious
