Oregon Coast. Day 41

We stayed in Lincoln City for two nights.  On our first day
we watched some glass blowing at a shop.  Lincoln
City promotes it's glass blowing, which is pretty cool.
It would have been really fun to try it but due to timing and
expense we decided not to.

(So several days prior to this picture) We are sitting at a restaurant and
Anderson pulls out a bunch of coins.  I have this flash back of seeing him at a
museum we had visited and he is standing in front of the wishing
well, and I think, "oh no, I know where the coins are from"....so I take the
coins and tell Bobo about the importance of people's wishes...so on this day, we
happened upon this well of water and I pulled out the coins
and had them make some wishes!

Onto Yaquina lighthouse in Newport, OR
Cobble Beach
These Cobble rocks were formed from a volcano many many
years ago.  The rocks fell from a large lava rock and continue
to be  rolled over by the water and smoothed.

It was probably the best tide pool I have seen.

Such clear water, huge starfish, purple Sea Urchins,
and lots of Sea Anemone.
We always squeal when the anemone close up on us
with their sticky feel....

The sea weed was like a curtain, "ta da....Starfish!"

Looks like maybe rocks...but no, little sea anemone!

At Yaquina Lighthouse, we were able to take a tour.
...demonstrating how a lighthouse can stay sturdy.
This was a first, singing an old song as keepers and families
would have done for entertainment.  Our tour guide liked
to sing and he said the acoustics were great, Andrew and
I thought it was pretty funny.
Heading up

The spot that claimed to be the highest point on
the Oregon coast, the Yaquina lighthouse is on the
farthest tip of land you can see in the picture.

We stopped on the beach for the last light to
begin our search for the floats (glass blown balls).
Every year from October 1st-Memorial Day in
Lincoln City on a 7 mile stretch of sand,
volunteers hide 2,000 glass balls that have been
purchased by the state for this fun and magical adventure!
It was so beautiful on the beach that night, foggy,
dramatic, and such a sweeping and vast coastline.

They are looking!

No floats tonight, we will try again tomorrow....
