Oregon Coast. Day 42

Hotel life...since leaving Seattle we never really had a plan
where we were staying most nights.  Often it would be
around 5:00 in the evening, Andrew would pull out the
AAA book or Priceline on his phone and begin the search.
It did get better as we went along, we discovered 2 stars
are better than one and usually include a pool which was
great when our days ended so early due to daylight
savings.  I also felt with 2 stars my feet could touch the
carpet and be okay...Hotel Life!
How many times have we loaded in these 42 days so far!
A familiar site, lots in the front seat!
I believe I am anticipating this part of the trip is coming to
a close.  We still have weeks ahead together, but
not the open road quite as much.  Andrew feels sad about
this reality but very fulfilled in his expectations of what
unfolded since departing on October 2nd.
Lincoln City, here we come to claim one of the floats.
We were told they are often hidden by the logs and
often near the parking lots as it provides easy access for
volunteers to hide them.
On the prowl...although I don't think Bobo knows
how to prowl...
She found one!
She looks so grown up to me here, she was so
excited!  She couldn't really believe it.
This is the part where one day my children will read
this blog and discover that their parents went to the
glass blowing shop and picked out a float so their
children could find some magic on the beach that day.

Bobo would periodically say (after Deveraux
had found the float) "Did you guys find another
one yet?"  His faith is so big.  Just like when
papa was lost he would say, "have they found
him yet?"  I wish I had more of that kind of faith!

A mushroom that was growing on the beach!

Bobo came running up to me to tell me,
he had caught both this stick and this weed pictured below.
He said that day, he learned how to be a fisherman.

These are two of the posters for finders keepers, finding floats.

We were headed to the lighthouse but on our way,
we stopped at Cape Perpetua
The visitors center was closed, but a good view and we
were all in good spirits!

Heceta Head lighthouse

It was all very picturesque.
This is the keepers house, which is available for guests to stay.
We looked into it and I really wanted to stay at a lighthouse during
our  travels, but we would have had to purchase two rooms and
so it became more that we wanted to pay.
The old stoop from the late 1800's used
to get on the horses.

Next stop was the Sea Lion Sea Caves

Floor 200!  Down we go!
Now the Sea lions were not in the cave at the time of our
visit.  They usually do start making their way in the
cave around November.

It is hard to tell in this picture, but you walk up a long
flight of stairs within the cave and you come to another
opening which looks out on the coast and the Hectia
Lighthouse.

The lighthouse is the white on the distant rock.

It was a little more difficult finding a good place to stay
in Florence at a reasonable price.  But we found one decked out
with light house décor that Bobo loved.  They say,
"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder."
I was greeted at the door by this lovely lady (Deveraux in a shower cap)
inviting me in to a wonderful stay.
She told me they had a workout facility.
They did not have a workout facility.  But we ended up
taking to the parking lot and each coming up with different
challenges...some running, some skipping, Bobo's was a
long obstacle course which involved crawling under the
picnic table.  Towards the end, Bobo took off his shirt,
he was getting into it!  It provided some good exercise for
all us, some good laughs, and stands out as one of my
favorite road trip memories.  I love that Andrew thought of it.
You work with what you have and we did...together!
