Last day Oregon. Day 43

Breakfast of oatmeal on the porch before we take
off for the sand dunes.
The only reason we went to Florence was to experience the
sand dunes Andrew had read about, they comprise about 40 miles.
We took a sand rail, like a dune buggy ride with Sandland Adventures!
What a ride!
There are certain areas that cars are aloud to cover on the
dunes.  We were out for about 40 minutes.  Our guide
said at one point we were going about 60 mph.
We felt it!
It was hard to know if especially Bobo was doing okay,
we were strapped in pretty good and we couldn't turn
our heads very much, we saw him laying his head on Deveraux.

Our funny tour guide took his own picture.
Our guide also told us people hunt for mushrooms in the
forests in the dunes.  They can make about $500.00
per day!  Andrew and I had to pause and think about that...
mmmmm....mushrooms.
Our guide told us that the sand is always changing and you have
to be careful of the different drops on the course and the
ever-changing landscape of the dunes.
He told us he was a retired police officer and that made me
feel better.  He also told us that they have never
overturned one in their plus 20 years.

lots of sand!
Bobo wanted this picture, by the big wheel, goggles
and helmet on!

Next we went to check out and conquer Sand boarding.  Unfortunately,
"Dr. Dune" told us he could not in good faith rent us
a board as the sand was damp and we wouldn't be able
to get a good ride.  He showed us a few videos. He said it
is mostly like surfing.  There are competitions and it is a whole other
world of boarding that was totally new to us.  He did tell us
that some of his best sand was on a trip to Carmel one time.
We headed to Eugene and stopped in the University
of Oregon's bookstore.  Go Ducks!
Andrew and I love seeing college campus', so we
walked around for a bit.
When we went into the student union,
Bobo asked, "Are we doing this museum?"
We have done so many!
Bobo has been wanting wings for his shoes, (so he can fly)!
A picture of motel life.  Another hotel adventure.  We
drove further than we thought we would after our
stop in Eugene.  We drove through some snow before
Bend, OR, but after that the roads were clear and free
of cars as it was so late.  We did not stop until Boise, Idaho,
where we found this hotel around 2 am.  We went to go
to our room and I saw that the T.V. was on.  I told
Andrew not to go to the room.  So we headed back to the
office.  Here he is waiting in the cold Idaho weather for
the lady to open the office.  There actually were people
in the room.  I will not miss this aspect of a road trip,
but all part of "tripping" I guess!
Onto to Utah tomorrow!
