Last Resort Fire Department. We went here first thinking it was
the museum. It was actually a garage full of restored fire
trucks owned by two retired Seattle firefighters, a father and son.
The fire trucks are used in several ways....the museum, special events, and parades.
He walked us around the entire garage. There were a
dozen kept in the garage and no room to spare. He said
it was difficult to even walk around. Many firefighter
families had donated things to him and he didn't want to
get rid of it but he was running out of space.

He also shared that they were a non profit and running out
of money and he wasn't sure how they were going to stay
in business. Again, people's stories along the way....
We made it to the Last Resort Fire Museum right before closing.
Our last stop was the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
This sign was posted in the bathroom.
I had no idea so many people didn't have bathrooms and how impacting
a bathroom can be to the lives of people.
These pictures were posted on the outside
of the bathroom doors showing different
types of bathrooms.
The things we take for granted are many.
The powerful message presented through interactive ways
in the visitors center was to not only see a family working
to change many lives but to see that you could impact lives as well.
One interactive display asked you to
type a response to the question, if you could
start a foundation or be an agent of change, what would you do?
You would type your response and then send it and it went
up onto the wall with all the other responses. It was very
cool to see your response in print, as a quote.
This was the quote Deveraux wrote.
Showing the weight of lifting water as many children do
for their households.
There were many different programs set up to offer
responses to things like education and then put your
responses in a flyer or poster format....again, inviting
responses and teaching, and then witnessing your own voice.
A portrait gallery....many faces were displayed especially
in the front of the building of individuals part of the foundation and those
individuals who have received services...we were able to put our faces up...
Kiddos could build and then take a picture of their ideas...
"Enter curious....leave inspired!"
A stop at Michaels on the way home to get Bobo a new
travel journal...we ran out of pages!
I love sleeping pictures....a tired crew, they got to
swim again, another LATE night!!!
