Leaving Victoria, Northern Pennisula. Day 18

Our morning to head out and leave our little neighborhood
and flat

We had to be at the Ferry by 9:30 to be ready for the 10:30 departure.

a cool Green Peace boat in the harbor

waiting on the Ferry
Our ferry coming in from Port Angles to pick us up
to head back to Port Angles.

There is where our car will ride.

Good-bye Victoria

I love being outside on the ferry.  Feeling the wind,
not having glass between me and the water.  It was a bit
cooler on this trip and I enjoyed some quiet time outside alone.

It was so quiet on the bow of the boat, just
pushing through that water.

Here we are back on U.S. soil....Port Angeles, Washington.

After stopping for lunch on the road, we pulled up to
Olympic Game Farm where our lives would be changed forever.....
The sign reads: Stay Inside Your Vehicle At All Times.
And there is good reason!
It started with a simple seagull on our roof and the next thing we knew...
.....we have a Yak breathing on our window.
It was $2.oo for a loaf of whole wheat bread, you are not allowed to
feed the animals anything else, we went through three loaves in our
animal adventures.

They are just all around as you drive down the winding road.
Next were the llamas, they were a persistent bunch.
One in particular would run alongside our car, hoping for more.

The sign said zebras may bite, so we didn't roll down the
window too far.

I liked the Yak's
Shannon and Deveraux liked the donkey, he received lots of bread!

A bear!
The bears however could not walk up to the car,
their was a low but electric fence for them.
\
In this section of the farm, the sign said, slowly keep
moving your vehicle....
.....easier said than done when you have so many heads
pocking through your window.

I kept scooting my head back and they kept trying
to scoot their heads in closer.  I was laughing so
hard but also a little scared.  We had never experienced
anything like this....
We are surrounded!

This was so funny as the bison were the biggest,
and this one got his head in the window far....Drew
was trying to shield Bobo...
"Quick hand me bread."

It was just so funny, strange, unlike anything we had every
experienced.  Like, in the moment, "Are we really doing this?"
And looking back, "did we really do that?"
Check out the slobber on the window!

Yes, that big!
Here they come

Big noses
Big eyes
And long black tongues which honestly were kinda gross to me.
After the Bison in the window, Bobo found a "safer position."
He said he liked it there.
Curious, kinda liking it and kinda not.

Not a whole lot of separation
Deveraux feeling a little more bold.  She would get upset
when she wanted a particular animal to get the piece she
had thrown and another would "swoop" in and get it.
Now he has moved into an even safer position from potential
open windows.  Although we are still surrounded.

After coaxing, Bobo came out from safety to feed a few more....
It was like a roller coaster ride...you go down
a hill (feed llamas) then laugh, get your bread ready and get ready
for a bigger hill (bison)...meanwhile rolling up and down
your window depending on the fear factor and try to
not get a tongue touching your hand.

The bears are known for "waving."

Now feeling a little more emboldened..
We went through the park two times.  I was just laughing
saying, that was so fun.  Deveraux wanted to go again.
Bobo, maybe not and Drew along for consensus!
We had so much slobber on our windows we had to stop
at a gas station just to clean them....mmmmm
Adventure!  We have had some good Bison laughs!
Now onto the Dungeness Spit

Sentiment that washed up forming land that is
in the shape of a long peninsula....so water on either side
and really big pieces of driftwood all over.

At the end of the spit is a 5 mile walk to a lighthouse.
We thought it would have been cool to walk to it,
but too far for the kiddos.  We did find out it is
$350.00 per person to stay for a week, we thought it would
be cool to experience life as a keeper.....maybe sometime.

Deveraux said she made a reindeer (maybe still thinking
of the animal farm.....)
We couldn't take rocks or sticks due to a sign posted,
so we left something behind.

Sweet Bison dreams!
