We had a very important date...tea at the Empress Hotel.
The Empress is the landmark in downtown Victoria, built between 1904-1908.
Andrew was the one suggested we go to high tea.
Flash back 19 years and we did not have enough money to
splurge on our honeymoon for this tea, now with
my daughter, we made the memory together...you just never know!
We stopped on the way for a photo.
Ready for tea!
Deveraux said she felt like royalty.
Deveraux said she didn't want to touch anything,
that it felt like antiques.
After we sat down, the piano player started playing.
"Beauty and the Beast", of course, I had tears.
She was just taken in....
...and we were being a bit silly and giddy
yummy treats!
These were among my favorite, biscuits with real cream on top!
Just one dollar....a long time ago!
And very low rates a long time ago!
A china patter for the new royal baby!
We walked all over the hotel and made the experience last!
Dev was even taking pictures in the bathroom!
Glorious Fall!
Upon leaving we hit the downtown area and
met a violin playing Darth Vador.
And this mouse!
She caught me shopping.....something we have fun
doing together!
The fog rolled in for our walk home.
I love being with Dev. One little mishap was I left my wallet
in my backpack and I had brought my purse. So, I had to
tell the nice people at the elegant Empress Hotel that I
did not have my money and I needed to walk home and I
(of course) would be back. Deveraux just hung with it,
skipping and planning a surprise later for dada and Bobo.
The big plan was to share our experience with dada and Bobo
and bring the Empress to our flat with Deveraux
as the server. She was so excited to do this!
Not exactly like the Empress, but alas, I would take this over
the Empress any day
She told Andrew the tea was delightful,
I know she will never forget it.
It was like she walked into an experience and it felt magical.
It was not just a hotel, it was much much more.
A woman who passed us on the street and then saw us again
asked if we always get along that well...it's funny, I would
not even think of us not getting along.
Deveraux said that is was beyond what she had dreamed of...
She is what I dreamed of...
I love those pictures of the leaves changing on that building. What a special experience.
ReplyDeleteomg-that was just precious-the tea:) I loved the fog pictures too! Can you make your pictures bigger on the blog Shannon? They are seriously AMAZING and I would love to see them big:) xoxo, Chelsea
ReplyDeleteBonny, I also could not get over those leaves! And Chelsea, thank you for that sweet comment, I will try, I feel like I have tried to enlarge and it threw everything off. I love how big your blog pics are and I like your new layout. I stick to the standard stuff, my tech limitations...I will see!
