Victoria. Day 15

Deveraux was dramatically reading her travel journal while her
younger brother acted it out.
This was a "didn't get out of the house" until 2:00 in the afternoon day.
cool driftwood art in someone's yard...mmmm
houses lining the water
(Dev and Bobo...hangs in our window f(rom our Chinese friends we
met in Monterey)

We headed along the coast driving through new areas that were so beautiful.

Our destination was a place Andrew had found where the kids could learn about rocks and mine for gold.  What we found was a little different, a cool store with a side room containing lots of gem stones you could dig for and rock facts, which were cool, but no mining.  We made the most of it.  Deveraux loves gem stones.

We then found a great bookstore with an amazing kids section and a wonderful shop keeper who used to be a librarian and she was very knowledgeable in the world of books.  If that wasn't enough, she also loved the Besty-Tacy series I grew up reading and loving (my favorites).  She even belonged to the fan club!   Deveraux has just finished the four volume series of Betsy-Tacy.  She would just literaly gobble the pages up, even one night she was only supposed to read to a certain spot and stop for bed, she was sneaking and trying to read more, Andrew had to pull the book away (we do encourage reading and we are so grateful our daughter loves to read, we just also want her to have decent sleep).

We bought the kids each a book which was fun.  We are reading Bobo's book as a family (one of my intentional "trip" things I wanted to do).  The book is called, "The One and Only Ivan."  So far poignantly written, a little sad, but just starting into it.

Then Bobo and I found an amazing lemon bar when we went to find a bathroom that we thought was the yummiest thing ever!
He loves anything army, look at that face!  He was so excited!

Next we went to this army memorial area in a parking lot that I had caught a glimpse of on our way the bathroom....a tank and some statues.  Bobo was in army heaven!  He couldn't believe it.

We then ate some pizza as we sat in the car watching sunset (it was cool outside), and then Bobo watched the machinery out on the sand doing some night work as they worked on putting in a new storm pipe.....exciting stuff!
We ended the night with stove top S'mores!

So pretty cool....don't leave until 2:00, find out you can't mine for gold....ends up being a great day!
