We know how to spread out!
So on this morning, I went out for an adventure morning run.
It is fun to be out and about, seeing the sites of a new downtown,
hoping you won't get lost. On this day, I ran down to the waterfront.
Then I came back, hoping to extend my time into a much needed
quiet time....well Andrew and the kids were at the pool, so I
literally ran in the shower and took off downstairs to sit in the coffee
shop. Again, continually reminded how much I need this time.
I grab it when I can.
It is my space to gather my thoughts. To be mindful of where I am
and where I want to be. To be reminded what feeds my soul and
calls me....
Trying to use some time while waiting for food to write in
travel journals. Trying to complete book work
while traveling is not coming as smoothly as I hoped.
We are out and about each day, defiantly learning.
I still feel that we need to keep up on our other subjects,
but it is challenging finding the space, energy, and time!
Sometimes getting this guy (Bobo) to focus and recount his days
on the journey is like "pulling teeth"...really!
Heading out of Olive 8 downtown today.
Next stop is the Space Needle. This kids were really
excited when they saw it and then found out we could
go up!
There is the downtown and then there are so many areas/
districts all around, each with their own unique offerings.
I thought about what a lonely existence a city often represents.
I think because community is not represented or shown-instead
a lot of people going somewhere and many others going nowhere.
People are used to close quarters in a city and so maybe as a result
they are better at blocking others up...
tuning into their music or their device.
Some of the city I really like...fitting into the hustle and bustle,
being anonymous...blending. Lots to see, a buzzing life, distractions...
a little or big subculture.
And I have liked the mix of quiet on this trip as well-the
isolated beach, not seeing anyone else but us.
I know I will remember this trip.
Interactive displays...it was cool how they would describe each
of the different neighborhoods.
These were taken on the way back to the car,
this is the outside of the Science Fiction museum.
Next stop was Olympic Sculpture Park
A moving train provided excitement!
I read this while the kids were playing in front of me. I loved how the
artist said, that you have to discover his sculptures through participation...
hey, how did my kiddos know that???
We all need to participate.
last stop before checking into our new spot was Willies House of Soul,
yes, Resturant.com and my husbands love of Southern food!
We were blessed to meet Rhegane'
She was sitting calmly eating her supper when we entered
and by the end of the night, we had made a new friend who
was full of life! Rhegane' was the granddaughter of Willie.
We promised to send her these pictures.
She seemed so hungry for connection.
Now on to our new home for the next 6 days...
so what' with the Restaurant.com? did you get a good deal?
ReplyDeleteIt is a good deal, You go on their site and sign up for their emails and they will run specials for $25.00 gift certificates for $4.00. You spend a certain amount, like the other night we had to spend $38.00 but we got $25.00 off so our meal was $14.00. It has been good while traveling to avoid trying to figure out where to eat and we used it while living in CA as well.
