Life is good this am for these two...hanging out in the room.
Andrew and I have been taking turns running in the morning,
I have found myself running a little longer without having the
pressure of time. It has been really enjoyable to have this time
to myself and to discover the area.
So by the time we finish runs, school/book time,
and food, it is the afternoon!
The plan for this day was to walk to the downtown following
a path I had found the day before while on a run.
The path hugs the water and is really beautiful.
James Bay square...a fun little corner with various business,
including a flower shop, coffee shop, and a grocery store.
In the time we have been here, we have been to that corner
several times.
Our flat for the week.
Heading out...we start with the ocean
after a little ways (longer with a Bobo who stops a lot
along the way) you come to Fisherman's Wharf.
We saw seals in the water!
Andrew found out you can buy fish the feed them,
the kids loved it! They will often play that they
are a part of an animal show. This was the real thing!
A part of this fisherman's wharf is a little village of homes.
He thought it was wild that the houses were actually on
water and between the walkway the house was water!
It was a small village, less than 20 homes.
yep, water right there!
We thought of Tia when we saw this one.
I had my mind on Bobo with this as he wants a Coast Guard bedroom.
Checking how we came from Vancouver to Vancouver Island.
These are the floating homes as we walked out of fisherman's
wharf and continued walking to a harbor.
These were homes with the water right outside their door.
Continued up the path
Harbor behind Deveraux
check out the dog on the front of the boat
Bobo could not resist going now to the
water, "wait, I just want to show you one
thing..."
Coming around the corner is the first glimpse of the
downtown and the famous, Empress Hotel.
A pause for leaves
getting dada
I love Dev's laugh in this one
I love this picture. The leaves on the Empress are red because of fall!
We arrived in need of nourishment! The walk took us
awhile with many stops and it is about 1 and half to 2 miles.
We stopped at a Soda Shoppe on the corner.
LOVE
Can you say tourist?
This boy loves the pamphlets and maps. I think my parents would
say another certain little girl probably liked those also.
We found a great bookstore and the kids loved it!
I ran out to get an afternoon pick me up coffee while kids were happy and
content in the bookstore and I ran into a Homeless
man in a wheelchair, I gave him some change in and he said, "Can I ask
you something?" "Yes" He said, "Could you get me a cup of
coffee with lots of milk and honey?" Sure. I chuckled as I made this
man his coffee the way he wanted it. We all have our preferences.
As we were headed out of downtown, another homeless man was
sitting with his collection cup. I remember I only had an American
dollar and they would not accept it in the store earlier. I told the man,
"All I have is American." He promptly responded, "I like American."
On the way home, we took the direct route down
Menzie street to our flat.
They started on multiplication tables after we got home.
The two babes sacked out! Long walk!
I loved the water houses and the seals!!! so cool! I remember that was the hardest and first thing we learned on our travels, to make eating a priority! We had many breakdowns and starvation moments before we realized food first, fun after-hehe:)
ReplyDeleteThey loved the seals! As far as food, we sometimes learn the hard way!
