Victoria. Day 12

Happy Thanksgiving...in Canada!
Here we are getting Victor (we named him) ready for the oven.
I took this because I looked over and wanted to remember
their height difference, I have a feeling Bobo will be
taller one day.
This has become our book work spot for school and for me.
They have some freedom here,  If they are both outside
together, they can scooter to the stop sign.
Skates and a mop = hockey (his cousins would be proud!)
Devearaux and I had a struggle over her book work this
morning.  She was ready to get outside and play, me too.
But I know with as much as we are learning on our outings,
I still want her to keep up especially on her travel journal (writing)
and her math.  I want learning to be fun and I know at times
I need to work on motivating Deveraux in creative ways instead of
just saying, "we need to do this."  But we do need to do it.
We had to have a talk about how I need her to meet me in this
new way of learning that we have embarked on....I know there
will be more to this conversation as we plot this course.
She did tell me the other day she liked dada as a teacher....
she then gave me some feedback I can take in and learn.  That is
one thing, I don't have to guess too much where I stand with Deveraux.
She will let me know and that is good.
This is the beach area less than a block away.
Shorts wet within 5 minutes, he was a happy water boy.

Meet Ernst.  Born in Switzerland and has lived in Canada
for several years.  He told the kiddos that he was Santa Clause
and even has a passport with lots of Santa pictures and a lovely
accent and white beard.  We met him as we were coming up from the beach.
He was very funny and interesting
and we stayed listening to his stories for awhile.
You can see our flat...the little house to the left of the big one.
While Dev and I were talking with our new friend,
Bobo was engrossed with a stick, a dog bowl, and a water fountain,

We enjoyed our time with this silly man who liked bringing
joy to people and we found out he loved Jesus which was
even better.  He gave us his email address so we can stay in touch.

While we were hanging out in the sunshine, my husband cooked
our Thanksgiving meal.  It was yummy and simple, it was nice
not to have a Thanksgiving in the kitchen for several hours.

Looking down at the beach area near our flat.  There is a
paved path that goes on for miles along the coast.  It is great
to have such wonderful walking and jogging paths.
We took a plate of Thanksgiving food to Ernst,
and we found him just coming up from the beach.  One thing
I have wanted to do on this trip is reach out to others.  He was
so surprised we came looking for him.
We then hit the streets to try and find the bed and breakfast
we stayed at for our honeymoon.  We walked a lot trying
to find it. The streets are so beautiful and somewhat reminiscent
of Carmel.  I think one of my favorite things is walking in
the early evening hours amongst neighborhoods of houses and
corners with coffee shops and restaurants.
We cannot seem to get enough of fall leaves!

Yes, he is in his underwear.  Unfortunately , Bobo sat where
there had been a dog and so we shed his pants.  Deveraux was
a bit embarrassed but he seemed okay.

We found out B and B, although, no longer a Bed and Breakfast.
I still had trouble remembering, maybe I was just so in love
or as Drew said, "I blocked it out with the shock of marriage."
Happy with my man and not shocked or blocked!
We found another playground.

Fuzzy kids but a beautiful park called Beacon Hill Park.

Then we walked home, stopping to get candy corn and a
Starbucks treat....we were out walking for about 3 hours.
A good Thanksgiving!
